Safeguarding

UK PE Group is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of every child and young person we work with — in PE lessons, clubs, camps, competitions and online through Sports I.

Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)

Phil Rose

0333 335 6269 Dedicated safeguarding email — to be confirmed

A dedicated safeguarding email address and a named Deputy DSL will be published here as soon as they are confirmed. Until then, report concerns by phone to the DSL on 0333 335 6269.

How to report a concern about a child

If you are worried about a child's safety or welfare during any UK PE Group activity, speak to the lead coach on site and contact our DSL the same day.

If the child lives in Sefton, you can also contact Sefton's Children's Help and Advice Team (CHAT) directly on 0151 934 4013. Outside office hours, including weekends and bank holidays, call Sefton's Emergency Duty Team on 0151 934 3555.

If the child lives outside Sefton, contact children's social care in the local authority where the child lives.

Concerns about an adult working with children

If you are concerned about the behaviour of any UK PE Group coach, member of staff or volunteer towards a child, report it to our DSL immediately. If the concern is about the DSL, contact the Deputy DSL or the LADO directly.

Sefton Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO)

0151 934 3783 safeguardingunitadmin@sefton.gov.uk

We inform the LADO within one working day of any allegation, and we make referrals to the Disclosure and Barring Service where the law requires it.

Our commitments

  • Every coach and member of staff working with children holds a current enhanced DBS check with a barred list check.
  • All staff complete safeguarding training, refreshed regularly, and know how to recognise and report concerns.
  • We follow the procedures of the Sefton Safeguarding Children Partnership and of the local safeguarding partnership where each school is located.
  • Pupil, parent and school data in Sports I is stored securely, is school-scoped and is handled in line with UK GDPR.
  • We never share pupil, parent or school information without proper authorisation.
  • Photos and video of pupils are only taken and stored with the school's consent.

Our safeguarding policy

Our Safeguarding & Child Protection Policy will be published for download here, with its last and next review dates.

The policy PDF and its review dates are pending — this page will link to it as soon as it is supplied.
